The Heroes of October 7th:
Heroic Stories for Children
Sunday, September 29 at 1 p.m. on Zoom
Join us for a special Zoom event about the creation of the first children's book that addresses the war and how it serves as a tool for young readers to cope in challenging times.
The Heroes of October 7th project began not long after the Iron Swords war broke out on October 7th, 2023. Aimed at children, and intended as a creative tool to mediate the challenging situation developing around them, it quickly grew from a website available in three languages, to a book, and now an English version of the book. The short, inspirational portraits of Israeli heroism – soldiers, medics, residents of the country's embattled areas, citizens who ran to help, and even children – highlight an incredible strength of spirit and Israeli pride.
We will meet Hadassa Ben Ari, the visionary of this project, who will recount what went on behind the scenes of this book, and Ofek Livni, an Israeli hero who rescued nine people from the Nova Festival and whose story appears in the book.
