Martin Kavka earned his doctorate in religious studies from Rice University, his master’s degree in religious studies from the University of Virginia, and his bachelor’s degree in religion from Princeton University. Prior to joining Lehigh’s faculty, Kavka served as associate professor in the department of religion at Florida State University. Kavka's research interests lie primarily in philosophy of religion and modern Jewish philosophy; he has received fellowships and awards for his research, and has presented it at conferences in North America, Europe, and Israel. He is the author of Jewish Messianism and the History of Philosophy and the co-editor of four books, including Judaism, Liberalism, and Political Theology, which will appear in 2013.
