Rabbi Joshua Ben-Gideon travelled to the Texas/Mexico border at El Paso/Ciudad Juarez with a group of Jewish clergy from around the country. HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) and T’ruah (Jewish Clergy united for human rights), organized the trip. Rabbi Ben-Gideon visited shelters for asylum seekers in Mexico and the Otero County ICE Detention facility. He met with refugees and was briefed by the ICE facility warden, immigration lawyers, a federal prosecutor and others.
