Meet our speakers - Rabbi Sandra Lawson and Rabbi Rebecca Ben Gideon

Rabbi Sandra Lawson is the new Associate Chaplain for Jewish Life and Jewish Educator at Hillel at Elon University. Rabbi Lawson received her ordination from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2018. Her vision as a rabbi is to help build a more inclusive Jewish community where all are welcomed, diversity is embraced, and all can come together to learn and pray. Rabbi Sandra uses her rabbinic training to bring Judaism to where people already are in their lives.

Rabbi Rebecca Ben-Gideon is a campus rabbi at the American Hebrew Academy where she teaches and builds Jewish community. Rabbi Ben-Gideon also heads the formal Jewish education programs at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin. She is s a former Head of School, educator and camp advisor who has served on the faculty of George Mason University, The Florence Melton Adult Education Program, The Jewish Youth Philanthropy Institute, and The Solomon Schechter High School of New York.  She earned her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude at Harvard University and Rabbinic Ordination at The Jewish Theological Seminary. Though she has worked in many different settings, Rabbi Ben-Gideon's goal is always the same – to connect with learners and to expand their understanding of how Jewish living and learning can help us to lead meaningful lives.
