Hundreds of thousands of Jews and allies gathered in hundreds of events across North America last night to commemorate the horrific events of October 7th.
“One year after the horrible attacks of October 7th, the Jewish community and our allies united to reflect on the year we have been through, reaffirm our unwavering solidarity with Israel, and reiterate our commitment to combating antisemitism across North America,” said Jewish Federations Executive Vice President Shira Hutt.
“Today has been focused on remembering and honoring the lives lost, the heroes who are serving, and the victims being held hostage by Hamas, but also about our collective resiliency and the strength we draw from one another in these difficult times.”
Over 130 Jewish Federations sponsored events in their communities, and Jewish Federations of North America supported 400 campus and communal events in 180 cities through $1 million in microgrants.
Current and former elected officials from every level of government attended these events or sent messages of support, as did prominent civic and faith leaders.
