Our Jewish Community

The Greensboro Jewish community numbers approximately 2,700 people, with two congregations: Beth David Synagogue (Conservative) and Temple Emanuel (Reform). Both congregations have active after-school religious programs, Sisterhoods and Brotherhoods. The local Hadassah chapter is very active. The gene therapy unit of Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem is named for this Greensboro chapter. more >>

Community Relations

The Federation's Community Relations Committee (CRC) promotes the Jewish community in the community at large, and fosters inter-community and inter-faith dialogue and understanding. Recent CRC activities include: Distributing a calendar of Jewish holidays to the public schools; initiating an inter-community project, Greensboro CARES, to raise funds to relief work in Kosovo and North Carolina (due to Hurricaine Floyd); an Interfaith Passover Seder.
